For Reviewers

Thank you for your interest in reviewing for Al-Malwiya Journal of Sport and Movement Sciences (AMJSMS). Peer reviewers play an essential role in ensuring the quality and integrity of published research.

Before You Begin

Before accepting a review invitation, please consider:

  • Expertise: Do you have sufficient knowledge in the subject area to provide a competent review?
  • Conflicts of Interest: Do you have any personal, professional, or financial relationship with the authors that could affect your objectivity? If so, please decline and notify the editor.
  • Availability: Can you complete the review within 2–3 weeks? If not, please decline promptly.

Confidentiality

The manuscript is a confidential document. Do not share it with anyone or use information from it for your own benefit. After completing the review, please destroy or delete any copies.

Evaluation Criteria

Please evaluate the manuscript on the following criteria:

Criterion Questions to Consider
Originality Does the study offer new knowledge or insights? Does it address a meaningful gap?
Methodology Are the methods appropriate, clearly described, and rigorous? Could the study be replicated?
Data Analysis Are the statistical methods appropriate? Are results presented clearly?
Discussion Are conclusions supported by the data? Are limitations acknowledged?
Literature Review Is the relevant literature adequately reviewed? Are important references missing?
Writing Quality Is the manuscript well-organized and clearly written?
Ethical Standards Is there evidence of ethical approval and informed consent where applicable?

Writing Your Review

A helpful review includes:

  1. Summary: A brief overview of the manuscript (2–3 sentences).
  2. Major Comments: Significant issues that must be addressed before publication.
  3. Minor Comments: Suggestions for improvement that are not essential for acceptance.
  4. Recommendation: Accept, Minor Revision, Major Revision, or Reject.

Best Practices

  • Be constructive — frame feedback as suggestions, not just criticism.
  • Be specific — refer to specific sections or paragraphs.
  • Be objective — base evaluation on quality, not personal opinions.
  • Be respectful — use professional and courteous language.
  • Be timely — complete your review by the deadline.

Reporting Concerns

If you suspect plagiarism, ethical violations, or misconduct, please notify the editor immediately.
