Author Guidelines

Submission Instructions for Authors:

Thank you for your interest in submitting to Al-Malwiya Journal of Sport and Movement Sciences (AMJSMS). Please read the following guidelines carefully before preparing your manuscript.

  1. The manuscript should be written in English and submitted using the submission system on the journal website.
  2. The manuscript is original work, not previously published and not currently considered for publication elsewhere.
  3. Register or login to the journal website and submit your manuscript.
  4. Use the journal template to prepare the article. Download the template [here]
  5. Fill in the Declaration and Copyright Transfer Form. Download the form [here]
  6. The manuscript file must NOT contain the names of the authors or any identifying information to ensure double-blind peer review. All author information is entered separately through the submission system.
  7. Upload the following three files during the submission process:
    • The manuscript in Microsoft Word (.docx) format. Name the file the same as the manuscript title.
    • The Declaration and Copyright Transfer Form in PDF format.
    • A Cover Letter addressed to the Editor-in-Chief (optional but recommended).

Types of Manuscripts

The journal accepts: Original Research Articles, Review Articles, Short Communications, and Case Studies.

Language and Length

  • Manuscripts must be written in English.
  • Manuscript length: 5,000–8,000 words, including the abstract, main text, tables, figures, and references.

Manuscript Structure

Manuscripts should follow this order:

  1. Title — Concise and informative (maximum 20 words recommended).
  2. Abstract — Maximum 250 words. Must include: Purpose, Methods, Results, and Conclusions.
  3. Keywords — Provide 3–6 keywords, separated by semicolons.
  4. Introduction — Background, rationale, and research objectives or hypotheses.
  5. Materials and Methods — Study design, participants, procedures, instruments, ethical approval statement, and statistical methods.
  6. Results — Clear presentation of findings with supporting tables and figures.
  7. Discussion — Interpretation of results, comparison with existing literature, limitations, and implications.
  8. Conclusions — Concise summary of the main findings and their significance.
  9. Conflict of Interest Statement
  10. Funding Statement
  11. Acknowledgements (if applicable — include only in the final accepted version, not in the initial submission).

Double-Blind Review Requirement

IMPORTANT: The manuscript file must NOT contain the names of the authors or any identifying information (affiliations, email addresses, acknowledgements, or funding details that identify the authors). All author information is entered separately through the submission system. Failure to anonymize the manuscript may result in the manuscript being returned.

Tables and Figures

  • Number tables and figures consecutively (Table 1, Table 2; Figure 1, Figure 2).
  • Each table and figure must have a descriptive title or caption.
  • Tables should be created using the Word table function (not as images).
  • Figures must be high resolution (minimum 300 dpi).
  • Place tables and figures at the appropriate location within the text.

References — APA 7th Edition

All references must follow APA 7th edition style. All sources cited in the text must appear in the reference list, and vice versa. Where available, DOIs must be included for all references.

In-text citations:

  • One author: (Smith, 2022)
  • Two authors: (Smith & Brown, 2022)
  • Three or more authors: (Smith et al., 2022)

Ethical Requirements

  • Studies involving human participants must include a statement of ethical approval (ethics committee name and approval number) and informed consent.
  • Studies involving animals must include a statement of compliance with institutional guidelines.
  • Any use of AI-assisted tools must be disclosed in the manuscript.

Submission Preparation Checklist

All submissions must meet the following requirements:

  • The manuscript has not been previously published and is not currently under consideration by another journal. If related work has been published or submitted (e.g., as a conference paper, preprint, or thesis), this has been disclosed in the cover letter.
  • The manuscript file is in Microsoft Word (.docx) format.
  • The manuscript is prepared using the journal template. Download the template [here].
  • The manuscript file contains no author-identifying information (no author names, affiliations, email addresses, or self-identifying acknowledgements or funding statements) to ensure double-blind peer review.
  • The manuscript is formatted according to the Author Guidelines: Times New Roman, 12 pt font, double-spaced, 2.5 cm margins.
  • The manuscript is between 5,000 and 8,000 words (including abstract, main text, tables, figures, and references).
  • The abstract does not exceed 250 words and includes the purpose, methods, results, and conclusions.
  • Between 3 and 6 keywords are provided.
  • All references are formatted according to APA 7th edition style, and all cited sources appear in the reference list (and vice versa).
  • Where available, DOIs have been included for all references.
  • All tables and figures are numbered consecutively, include descriptive titles/captions, and are placed within the text at the appropriate location.
  • All figures are of high resolution (minimum 300 dpi).
  • For studies involving human participants, ethical approval and informed consent are declared in the manuscript.
  • A Conflict of Interest Statement and Funding Statement are included in the manuscript (state "None" if not applicable).
  • Any use of AI-assisted tools has been disclosed in the manuscript.
  • All listed authors meet the authorship criteria and have approved the submission of this manuscript.
  • The Declaration and Copyright Transfer Form is completed, signed, and ready for upload in PDF format.
  • The manuscript has been proofread for grammar, spelling, and clarity.
  • The following files are ready for upload:
    • The manuscript in Microsoft Word (.docx) format, named the same as the manuscript title.
    • The Declaration and Copyright Transfer Form in PDF format.

Privacy Statement

  • Authors and Co-Authors: Names, institutional affiliations, email addresses, ORCID IDs, and postal addresses as entered during the submission process.

  • Registered Users: Names, email addresses, and user account details created during registration on the OJS platform.
  • Website Visitors: Standard web server log data, including IP addresses, browser type, and pages visited, collected automatically for the purpose of website administration and security.

How We Use Personal Information

Personal information collected by AMJSMS is used solely for the following purposes:

  • Managing the manuscript submission, peer review, and publication process.
  • Communicating with authors, reviewers, and editors about manuscript status and editorial decisions.
  • Publishing author names, affiliations, and contact details as part of the published article (with author consent).
  • Maintaining the integrity of the peer review process.
  • Complying with legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitoring and improving the journal's website and services.

Data Protection

  • Personal data is stored securely on the journal's OJS platform and is accessible only to authorized personnel (editors, editorial staff).
  • The journal does not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer personal information to outside parties.
  • The journal takes reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect personal data against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction.

Confidentiality in Peer Review

  • The identities of reviewers are kept confidential and are not disclosed to authors or other reviewers.
  • The identities of authors are not disclosed to reviewers during the double-blind review process.
  • Manuscripts under review are treated as confidential documents and must not be shared with or discussed with any unauthorized individuals.

Cookies

The journal website uses cookies as part of the OJS platform to maintain user sessions and improve the browsing experience. Cookies are small text files stored on the user's device. Users may choose to disable cookies in their browser settings, although this may affect the functionality of the website.

Third-Party Access
