Archiving and Preservation Policy

Al-Malwiya Journal of Sport and Movement Sciences (AMJSMS) is committed to ensuring the long-term preservation and accessibility of all published content. The journal recognizes the importance of maintaining a permanent scholarly record for the benefit of the global academic community.

Journal Website Archive

All articles published in AMJSMS are permanently archived on the journal's website, hosted through the Open Journal Systems (OJS) platform. Published articles remain freely accessible in both HTML and PDF formats at their original URLs.

Digital Preservation

AMJSMS is committed to working toward digital preservation through the following measures:

  • OJS PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN): The journal intends to participate in the PKP Preservation Network, a free preservation service provided by the Public Knowledge Project for OJS journals. The PKP PN uses the LOCKSS (Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe) technology to ensure that published content is preserved even if the journal's website becomes unavailable.
  • Institutional Repository: The journal encourages authors to deposit the published version of their articles in their institutional repositories, which provides an additional layer of archival backup.
  • Regular Backups: The journal's server is backed up regularly to protect against data loss.

Persistent Access

  • The journal strives to assign Digital Object Identifiers (DOIs) to all published articles to ensure persistent linking and identification.
  • Published articles are never removed from the journal's website. In cases of retraction, the original article remains accessible but is clearly marked as retracted (see the Retraction and Correction Policy).

Continuity of Access

In the event that the journal ceases publication, the editorial board and the University of Samarra will take reasonable measures to ensure that all published content remains publicly accessible through:

  • Transfer of content to an institutional repository or a third-party archiving service.
  • Preservation through digital archiving networks.

Author Self-Archiving

Under the CC BY 4.0 license applied by AMJSMS to all published content, authors have full rights to self-archive their work — including the preprint, accepted manuscript, or final published PDF — in institutional repositories, subject-specific repositories, personal websites, and academic networking platforms at any time with no embargo period. Proper attribution to the journal as the original place of publication is required.
