Copyright and Licensing
Copyright Transfer to AMJSMS
Upon acceptance for publication, authors agree to transfer copyright of their manuscripts to Al-Malwiya Journal of Sport and Movement Sciences (AMJSMS). AMJSMS becomes the copyright holder of all published content.
This means:
- Copyright ownership transfers from the authors to AMJSMS.
- AMJSMS becomes the exclusive copyright holder.
- AMJSMS holds the legal rights to publish, reproduce, and distribute the article in all forms and media.
- The work is safeguarded against unauthorized use by AMJSMS as the copyright holder.
The copyright transfer becomes effective only upon acceptance of the manuscript for publication.

Why Copyright Transfer
Copyright transfer ensures:
- Legal authority for AMJSMS to publish and distribute the work under CC BY 4.0.
- Institutional responsibility for long-term preservation and stewardship.
- Protection of the work against unauthorized exploitation.
- Ability to enforce license terms if necessary.
- Clear and consistent intellectual property management.

All articles published in AMJSMS are licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0).
Under this license, anyone may:
- Read — Access and read the article for free.
- Download — Save copies of the article.
- Copy and Distribute — Share the article through any medium or format.
- Print — Print copies for personal or educational use.
- Translate — Create translations into other languages.
- Adapt — Modify, build upon, or create derivative works.

The only requirement is proper attribution to the original authors and AMJSMS.

Authors' Rights Despite Copyright Transfer
Although authors transfer copyright to AMJSMS, they retain substantial rights through the CC BY 4.0 license that AMJSMS applies to all published content.
Authors are free to:
- Use their published article for personal, educational, and research purposes.
- Share the article with colleagues, students, and the public.
- Include the article in presentations, lectures, and teaching materials.
- Post the published version on personal, departmental, or institutional websites.
- Deposit the article in institutional or disciplinary repositories.
- Distribute copies for non-commercial or commercial purposes.
- Reuse figures, tables, and content in future works with proper citation.
- Create translations or adaptations.
- Include the article in theses, dissertations, or book chapters.
Proprietary rights retained by authors:
- Patent rights.
- Rights to use research data for future research.
- Rights to make oral presentations.
- Rights to prepare works based on the research.
No Republication Without Permission
The work cannot be republished in its entirety in another journal or publication without written permission from AMJSMS. However, under the CC BY 4.0 license, others may share, redistribute, adapt, and build upon the work for any purpose, provided appropriate attribution is given to the authors and AMJSMS.
Self-Archiving Rights
Under the CC BY 4.0 license, authors have full rights to self-archive their work:
- Preprints: Deposit the submitted version in preprint servers before or during review.
- Accepted Manuscript: Archive the post-peer-review version immediately after acceptance.
- Published Version: Deposit the final published PDF anywhere immediately after publication.
- No Embargo: No waiting periods or restrictions.

Third-Party Content
If a manuscript includes content (such as figures, tables, or text) from third-party sources, authors are responsible for obtaining written permission from the original copyright holder before submission. Proper attribution to the original source must be provided.
Copyright Infringement
If any party believes that content published in AMJSMS infringes their copyright, they should contact the editorial office immediately. The journal will investigate all claims promptly and take appropriate action in accordance with COPE guidelines.
